Gandalf the Grey realised that the magic ring that Bilbo Baggins had attained in his past adventures was actually the One Ring, a potential weakness that could destroy Sauron, the Dark Lord of Mordor. The ring held a corrupting influence on Bilbo and Bilbo was reluctant to give it up, and Gandalf refused to accept it himself but once Bilbo dropped the envelope containing the ring, he quickly placed it on the mantle of the fireplace for Frodo Baggins. Bilbo once freed from the ring left the Shire to go on his final adventure, feeling lighter now the burden had been lifted from his shoulders.

Only 52 of these figures are produced at this time. This is the 227th release in the Gold Status Fellowship club. This is the first of five figures/vignettes from Phase 1 of the journey through the original LOTR story. Phase 1 covers the initial flight from the Shire to avoid the Nazgul seeking "Baggins". This is a departure from earlier Fellowship releases and was chosen (as was MZ752 and MZ753) by Mithril's sculptor Chris Tubb. The new structure of the Fellowship has 3 pre-agreed on ideas and two Membership chosen ideas. This is the fortieth fully UV resin release. Mithril is offering a choice between primed and unprimed. This release is three pieces so some assembly is required. It is 32mm scale. The base has the manufacturer name MITHRIL, the sculptor's name and creation date, MZ number and trade mark notice for Middle-earth Enterprises.
