Gandalf took Pippin on the back of Shadowfax back to Minas Tirith, the Capital of Gondor, currently under siege by the forces of Mordor. He brought with him the Rohirrim, from the lands of Rohan. Shadowfax is so intelligent that he does not require any reins to direct him, instead Gandalf simply tells him what he needs him to do.

Only 100 of these figures are produced. This is the 189th release in the Gold Status Fellowship club. This was the winning idea from June 2021 and was submitted by Fellowship member "aragorn". This is the first fully UV resin figure, undercoated with matt grey primer. It is created in one piece. The base has the manufacturer name, MITHRIL, date and number on the sides of the base instead of the bottom, due to technical requirements in its manufacturing. It measures 58mm in length from the horse's nose to its tail, and is about 47mm in height from the base to the top of Gandalf's head.

This product is not suitable for children under the age of 14.

    Dynamic and beautiful

Gandalf has always been a true inspiration to all collectors. Especially for those who want to paint their miniatures. This figure just adds to all the magic that Chris Tubb has been giving us all these years.

    Resin figure

Posted by Amadeusz Ziarkowski on 18th Dec 2022

The design is as usual amazing and the attention to details is impressing. However I miss the metal a wee bit. The pewter minis felt heavy and solid if you know what I mean.

    Great miniature

The resin is of very good quality and the base is well decorated and worked, although what I like the most is the position and dynamism of shadowfax.

MZ702 Gandalf and Pippin on Shadowfax

Posted by David Carl Daines on 17th Oct 2022

The figure is, as usual, very nicely sculpted and detail appears to be nice and crisp (I have a bias towards resin over white metal in any case) and NO mould lines to be pared away which is always a bonus (there are a couple of minute resin ‘spots’ on Shadowfax where some of the support rods have attached during the printing process, but these will sand away without problem). The resin also has a nice feel to it and being grey it may do away with the need for factory primer to be applied. It will be interesting to see how support rods are dealt with for delicate parts on future releases, sometimes a trade-off against breakages in the post. One thing that I hope will be taken into consideration for future releases (where applicable) is paintbrush accessibility to some areas Anyhow, it’s a thumbs-up from me
