The Lord of the Nazgul, often referred to as the Witch-King of Angmar, was a Nazgul or Ringwraith that lead the other eight Nazgul's and served Sauron as his mightiest lieutenant. He rode a reptilian fell-beast when attacking at the Battle of the Pelennor field, and slew King Theoden of the Mark. Eowyn, Theoden's niece and shield-maiden of Rohan, avenged the king and killed the wraith-lord with some help from Merriadoc. It was a pivotal moment of the battle which ended in the victory of the free peoples.
