The head of Grond is the metal top of a large battering ram, used to smash gates or other obstacles. It was shaped with the head of a wolf and named 'Grond' in honour of the huge warhammer welded by the ultimate evil, Sauron's previous master, Morgoth. Grond was forged in Mordor by Smithies of Barad-dûr during the final years of the Third Age.
