The mouth of Sauron is a herald that met Gandalf and the host from Gondor before the Battle of the Black Gate and showed him Sam's sword, a grey cloak with the Elven brooch and Frodo's mithril vest, claiming that the fate of the spy depends on their actions, and if they did not comply with Sauron's demands the spy would be tortured.
