One of the greatest Elves in Middle-earth. She was co-ruler of Lothlórien with her husband, Lord Celeborn, and was referred to variously as the Lady of Lórien, the Lady of the Galadhrim, the Lady of Light, or the Lady of the Golden Wood. Her daughter Celebrían was the wife of Elrond and mother of Arwen, Elladan and Elrohir. Nenya was one of the Three Rings of the Elves, the Ring of Water or the Ring of Adamant.

The Painting Guide:
A well-documented appearance negates further research for the Lady of Lothlorien. Pale grey robes, pale elf skin and pale blond hair will all need distinct treatment so as not to merge into a pale bland paint job.

Adding blue to a light grey for the shadowed areas on the robes will give a cleaner appearance than straight grey and will add to the elven look desired. Applying this over the whole miniature will give a solid foundation for further treatment

As with all use of colours with an opaque, white consistency, mixing with a good portion of water will ease painting, maintain a smooth finish and prevent an unpleasant chalky texture, as well as not drying quickly on the brush.

To maintain a desirable light feel to the miniature, dark shadows in the folded cloth of the robe should be kept to a minimum; this will give the impression of light material and will be consistent with the movement of the figure.

Galadriel's skin tones can be treated by starting with a warm flesh colour and working up to a very pale cream for the highlights, keeping the paint a milky consistency will help blend the different tones used, the lips will not need separate treatment if left in the original warm flesh colour and painted around with the lighter tones.

Pale blond hair can be achieved by starting with a very pale cream colour painted opaque onto the area, (it is best to paint several thin coats, rather than one thick one which will tend to obscure the detail), after which a very thin wash of tan or sienna will give a natural look; a light natural earth colour will work for most hair colours depending upon the amount of paint mixed in with the wash.

Keeping the base dark and simple will give the miniature an effectively light appearance.
